New Capterra listings now start inside G2. Here is the current path, what the free profile needs, and where your product can be in front of buyers while Capterra's review queue runs.

The short answer
A Capterra listing is free. Since G2 bought Capterra, GetApp and Software Advice in February 2026, the Capterra vendor page sends new products into G2's submission flow, where you tick Capterra and its two sister sites next to G2. Approval takes roughly 1 to 10 business days, and a product needs 20 reviews in 24 months before it can appear in a Capterra Shortlist.
How to get listed on Capterra in 2026, step by step
Start at the vendor page
Capterra's "Get Your Product Listed" link now opens G2's new product form. Sign up with a company email address.
Tick all four sites
Add the product once and select Capterra, GetApp and Software Advice next to G2, so the listing is cross published.
Editorial review
A moderator checks the profile. Missing pricing or screenshots is the most common reason it stalls.
Reach 20 reviews
Invite real customers who have used the product for a month. Twenty reviews in 24 months unlocks Shortlist eligibility.
Does a G2 listing also put me on Capterra
Not automatically. G2 announced the purchase of Capterra, GetApp and Software Advice from Gartner on January 29, 2026 and closed it on February 5 for a reported $110 million. The three former Gartner sites now run as G2 Digital Markets. On the vendor side, that has meant one front door: Capterra's vendor page points to G2's product form, and vendor guides report that since September 2026 the form offers the three sites as checkboxes.
The catch is that the two halves still keep separate free listing structures and separate back offices. A product created only through G2 may not come with its own login to the Capterra side, which is where pay per click bids and review collection for Capterra live. If you plan to advertise on Capterra later, request access to the Capterra vendor cabinet at the start instead of discovering the gap mid campaign.
Most guides ranking for this question were written before the merger and still describe a separate Capterra signup. If you followed one and hit a G2 page, you are in the right place.

What a Capterra product listing needs before it goes live
Half filled profiles are the main reason a submission waits in review, and they rank below complete ones once approved. Prepare these before you open the form.
✓ Company email
Personal Gmail or Outlook addresses are commonly rejected at signup.
✓ Description, 500 to 1,000 characters
Say what it does, for whom, and the outcome. AI assistants quote this text.
✓ Main category plus 2 or 3 related ones
Categories decide which comparison pages and ads you can appear on.
✓ Feature checklist
Buyers filter by it, and unticked features read as missing.
✓ Starting price and pricing model
Capterra shows the pricing type prominently; "contact us" loses filtered searches.
✓ Logo and 4 to 6 screenshots
Profiles with real screens convert better and look maintained.
✓ Integrations list
US buyers search by QuickBooks, Salesforce or Slack integration.
✓ Deployment and support options
Cloud, mobile, onboarding and support hours are filters in most categories.
✓ A 1 to 2 minute product video
Optional, but it answers the "what does it look like" question before the demo call.
How many reviews do you need on Capterra
Twenty. Capterra's published Shortlist methodology requires at least 20 unique product reviews within the 24 months before the research starts, a US market presence, a minimum normalized rating and a minimum popularity score. Below that line your listing exists but does not appear in the Shortlist reports that most buyers open first, and it sits under the paid placements on every category page.
The fastest honest route is a personal email to 5 to 10 happy customers the week the listing goes live, then a standing ask after every successful onboarding or renewal call. Only invite people who have used the product for at least a month, never suggest a star rating, and never ask employees. Putting a company wide email signature with a review link on your support and success team's mail keeps the ask in front of customers without anyone remembering to send it.
Space requests out. Reviews from the last six months carry more weight than older ones, so a steady trickle beats a single burst that goes stale.
Review milestones on Capterra
Is it free to list on Capterra, and what costs money
The listing is free. The spend starts when you want to sit above the reviewed products: Capterra sells pay per click placement across Capterra, GetApp and Software Advice together, and vendor guides put clicks at $1 to $15 depending on the category. Our Capterra advertising cost breakdown works through the minimum budget and the break even math.
That leaves a gap for a new product: a free profile with zero reviews, weeks from a Shortlist, and a click auction you may not want to fund yet. This is where a flat priced listing helps. On SoftwareHome a $49 listing goes live when you submit, with your own description, and appears on your category page and on the alternatives pages of the products you compete with. If your product is already in our directory, claim your existing profile instead.
Weighing the two giants against each other? The G2 vs Capterra comparison for vendors sets their audiences and costs side by side, and the software review sites pricing table covers the independent options.

Capterra listing questions
How do I get my software listed on Capterra?
Start from the Capterra vendor page, which now sends new products into G2's listing flow. Create a vendor account with a company email, add the product once, and tick Capterra, GetApp and Software Advice alongside G2. Fill in the description, category, features, pricing and screenshots, then wait for editorial approval before you ask customers for reviews.
Is it free to list on Capterra?
Yes. A basic Capterra listing costs nothing and never has. What you pay for is extra visibility: pay per click placement, which Capterra runs as an auction across Capterra, GetApp and Software Advice, with vendor guides reporting $1 to $15 a click depending on the category. The free profile ranks on reviews alone.
How long does it take to get listed on Capterra?
Plan for one to two weeks. Vendor guides report editorial review of anything from 1 to 10 business days for a new product, and claiming a product that is already listed is usually faster. Incomplete profiles, a personal email address or missing pricing are the usual reasons a submission sits longer.
How many reviews do you need on Capterra?
To appear in a Capterra Shortlist report a product needs at least 20 unique reviews published within the previous 24 months, a US market presence, a minimum normalized rating and a minimum popularity score. Below that you are listed but invisible in the rankings most buyers read first, so the first 20 reviews matter most.
Does a G2 listing also put me on Capterra?
Only if you choose it. G2 bought Capterra, GetApp and Software Advice in February 2026, and its submission flow now offers the three as checkboxes. G2 and the former Gartner sites still run separate free listing structures, so request each site from the vendor cabinet rather than assuming one profile covers all four.
